Subject: [IML] IFW: Do I dare ... Feature
Hello,
After all goodies that have arrived this could tend to be of less interest
but here is something I always tend to forget. When creating an animation,
or a still for that matter, It would I like to have Imagine presets to
sometimes remember the reslution and X-Y aspect ratio and the possebility
to name and save them of course.
That is, if I want a PAL resolution 720x576 (X=16 Y=15) i would like to
save that as a preset option "PAL" as much as other resolutions like
600x360 (that is 16:9 widescreen) among others. What do you guys think?
By the way, how does the animaton compression algorithm work, does it
optimize 16:9 fomats? MPEG don't AVI?

In IFA you can add new resolution or edit the aspect ratio in the
Preferences Editor. Just click on Rendering Presets. One click on the last,
empty line enable you to insert resolutions and aspect ratio's how you
need.

Subject: [IML] Quest: Pal Format Aspect Ratio
Can anyone tell me the aspect ratio for a rendering to PAL? I need an
anim to be put to 720X576 but I'm not so sure of the proper aspect for
that. Mail me privately,if possible, as it will be late tomorrow before
I receive the IML digest again.
Thanks,

I found the following in a DejaNews search:
There are two sizes of computer images I have seen called PAL.
If you want CCIR PAL i.e. broadcast or digital PAL, it is 720
pixels wide x 576 pixels high but if you want square pixel PAL
it's size is 768x576.
This means that 720x576 does not use square pixels, but pixels that are
slightly wider than square ones. The aspect ratio is (768/720) = 1.0667.
Since Imagine wants an integer XY ratio, use 16/15, i.e. render with the
following aspect ratio:
X = 16
Y = 15
